Volunteer Activities
Our volunteer activities typically involve only a few hours! Please mark at least two events. We really need your help! The time commitment needed is in parenthesis for each activity.
______Adopt-a-Path Breakfast Club (2 hours)
We meet at Shadowbend Park quarterly on Saturday mornings to clean our adopted path. Coffee and goodies are available at the start. It’s a great way to start the day!
______A Walk in the Woods (1 ½ hours, not including the program)
The Walk in the Woods lecture series occurs three times in the spring and fall. We need greeters and volunteers to staff The G.R.E.E.N.’s booth. If you’re attending the lecture, why not come early to help us!
______Buy Recycled Boutique (3 hours)
Do you like surfing the internet? That’s how we find recycled products to sell at the Buy Recycled Boutique in the spring and fall. We need volunteers to identify goods and help sell at the boutique.
______EARTH DAY Festival (3 hours or more!)
Earth Day is our biggest event! We need volunteers before and during the festival. A variety of opportunities await an Earth Day volunteer from deciding t-shirt designs to working with sponsors.
______Membership (2 hours)
Keeping in contact with our members is vital. We need volunteers to talk with members and potential members to identify their priorities and encourage participation in upcoming events.
______Dragon Circle contributing writer (3 hours)
Do you have an interesting article you’d like to share with The Woodlands G.R.E.E.N. community? If so, please submit it to the Dragon Circle for publication.
______Student Ambassador Program (3 hours)
The Student Ambassador Program is our internship program for high school students. We need volunteers to work with students, identify internship opportunities, and select a scholarship recipient.
______Event recycling (3 hours)
During various events such as triathlons, swim meets, July 4th, Dragon races, etc, we need people to arrange recycle trash bins next to regular trash cans to encourage and monitor recycling.
